This unique set of three hand-carved birchwood mugs and a matching serving tray was crafted by Witaberget in Northern Sweden.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of the far north, where mists blanket the forests and the Vikings once left their mark.
Each mug and the tray are fired over an open birchwood fire, bearing the marks of the element – a vibrant interplay of fire, wood, and craftsmanship. One mug and the tray are decorated with Nordic runes, symbolizing strength, community, and a connection to nature.
The inside of the mugs is lined with 100% natural barrel resin – a traditional, eco-friendly method that makes them waterproof and food-safe. Perfect for mead, beer, juice, water, or other cold beverages.
The plate serves as a serving tray for the three mugs, but also as a stylish wooden platter for cheese, nuts, olives, salami, or small snacks – rustic, practical, and beautiful.

Care instructions for this wooden mug and serving plate set
– Before first use, rub the exterior with standard, refined cooking oil (e.g., rapeseed or sunflower oil).
– Oil the plate until the wood is saturated. This will give the mugs and plate a warm color and make them water- and stain-resistant.
– Clean under running water after use, dry with a soft cloth, and avoid using sharp objects to protect the resin coating inside. Lightly oil if needed.

The mug and plate was not made with the help of a lathe. The mold was only made by hand.
Barrel resin has been used for hundreds of years to waterproof beer kegs and drinking cups. Objects that are filled with barrel resin are also easy to clean. It is a purely natural product that is obtained from tree resin and in no way affects drinking pleasure.
Barrel resin is very durable and can be easily renewed.
